Taos Country Day School

Dear Friends of Taos Country Day School,

On September 19th we purchased our campus and land! This is a day we have all been working towards - - thank you for your continued support!

We were able to close through the patience and generosity of the seller who is covering funds that we are still short on. We need to raise this money through pledges from our community through December 15th. We have come this far because of all of our hard work and generosity and the support of the seller. What a Wonderful Community We Are! The next steps are planning for a high school and expanding our classrooms. We are stepping into the future with excitement and gratitude!

Sincerely,
Micah Roseberry

ADMISSIONS INFORMATION

Ages and Classes
Country Day School serves children with two mixed age kindergartens through grade eight. A student's acceptance into the program is based on the school's ability to meet the child's needs, as well as the needs of the class. Children are eligible for the mixed age kindergartens when they are three and one half years old by September of the admitting year. Children continue in the kindergarten program often for several years with additional activities geared toward the older child. Students enter 1st grade when they are 6 by June 15th of the admitting year. Children with summer birthdays are evaluated on an individual basis for first grade readiness.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES

  1. The Tour: Families interested in finding out more about Country Day School are encouraged to contact the office to arrange a tour of the school.
  2. The Application and Fee: After a tour, prospective families must fill out an application and pay a non-refundable application fee (currently, $75).
  3. The Interview: A meeting will be arranged between the teacher, parents and child. This is an opportunity to discuss more fully the philosophy and methodology of our program. The curriculum can be explored in greater detail. Any special needs that the child might have should be discussed at this time. The school will strive to arrange all interviews in a timely manner.
  4. Class Visits: After the interview, a child may be invited to spend a day or two in the classroom. This will better help the teacher assess if it is a good fit for the child and the class.
  5. Records: All records from previous schools are required to be sent to the school prior to enrollment.

REGISTRATION and FIRST MONTHS TUITION
Upon the successful agreement that indeed the school can meet the child's needs and the parents understand and support the program, a space in the class is offered to the child. The child's place is reserved in the class with the non-refundable payment of the first month's tuition.

WAITING LISTS
Any child whose application is received after the class has reached maximum enrollment will automatically be placed on a waiting list. The waiting list will be maintained for one year. If at the end of the year there still is no space in the class the family is responsible for requesting that their child should remain on the waiting list. They will not be asked to pay the application fee again. However, if a spot is offered to a child and the family declines they loose their place on the waiting list. Although we try to honor the chronological order of the applicants, please understand that we do look at many factors when pulling from our waiting list including siblings, age ratios and boy / girl balance in a class. Special consideration is given to CDS siblings. In our mixed age kindergartens, in an effort to maintain a healthy representation of all ages, there are limited openings for each age.

Enrollment Contracts
An Enrollment Contract is signed by all parties concerning tuition responsibility. The school and the family reserve the right to discontinue the enrollment contract if it is determined that it is not in the best interest of the class or the student to continue at the school. A thirty day notice is required.
